This traditional style Halls of Residence required a complete overhaul including student rooms, the kitchen/dining areas and the basement plant room.
Existing pipework was found to be lagged with asbestos containing materials. Munro took on the role of principle contractor for the project and managed the asbestos removal process which was a critical part of then being able to subsequently and safely remove and replace the plant and pipework.
Woks included temporary connections, pump replacement, new interconnecting pipework and temporary electrics prior to changeovers and isolation works in advance of the asbestos removal to enable the main contract works. Critical to the projects success was working to a tight programme coupled with working in an occupied building and campus, which required careful planning.
